The Response – Grow Jobs & Diversify The Economy
With a stated goal to enhance regional economic competitiveness, the Hampton Roads Community Foundation began a multi-phase process in 2013. The first phase was the establishment of four study groups to do a deeper dive into critical ingredients to a stronger regional economy including entrepreneurship, workforce development, clusters and leadership.
The Entrepreneurship Study Group’s mission was to develop implementable initiatives that will lead to a stronger and more supportive entrepreneurial environment for starting and growing businesses in Hampton Roads.
Achievement of this mission will drive job growth with higher paying jobs and an enhanced regional economy. The Entrepreneurship Study Group determined 3 initiatives that will foster a stronger more supportive entrepreneurial environment for entrepreneurs including the 757 Angels initiative.
757 Angels is the first organized angel group in Hampton Roads. 757 Angels connects startups and early stage businesses seeking capital with a network of accredited/high net worth investors who have an appetite for early stage risk. 757 Angels is a clearinghouse for presenting quality startup & early stage investment opportunities requiring funding to its membership.
